24 Most Instagrammable Places In Brisbane 2023

Looking for instagrammable places in Brisbane?

No matter why you are in Brisbane: traveling, studying, or working, I got you covered for the best photography spots that are well-known and also some hidden gems.

Brisbane is the capital of Queensland and is also a special place for me as I studied and worked there for 5 years. The weather is not as extreme as in Melbourne (sorry Melbourne friends, Miss Qing is a Malaysian teacher who can’t stand the cold!) and the population is not as dense as in Sydney.

Brisbane has so many instagrammable places that are aesthetic and picturesque.

The views along the Brisbane river, the old sandstone buildings, and modern high risers under the expansive sky. When new meets old, it creates a spark in the eye of the wanderer.

4. South Bank Parklands

South Bank Parklands is strategically located along the meandering Brisbane River, with a size of 17 hectares! Brisbane River is like the heartbeat of Brisbane. A lot of the instagrammable places in Brisbane offer you different vantage points of the river.

Streets Beach is a beach located at South Bank that is a must-visit for Brisbane instagram spots!

Can you believe it is Australia’s one and only man-made beach RIGHT IN THE CITY? Honestly, I was so amazed when I first visited in 2014.

When you see the white sand, blue water, and green palm trees, you will really feel like you are at a real beach!

There are also two water play areas next to the Streets Beach – Boat Pool and Aquativity so make sure you bring your swimmers and a change of clothes. P/S: it’s free!

The best time to get a shot at this instagrammable place in Brisbane is nighttime when the lights are on. It will be well-lit in yellow which makes the handcrafted timber design even more attractive.

7. Brisbane Sign

Brisbane Sign is literally “instagrammable Brisbane”! This is a must-see photography spot located at South Bank with views of the city and the river. You can easily see it sitting on a wide grassy area outside of Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

The colorful giant letters look great both during the day and at night. You can take the beautiful skyline as the backdrop in the daytime and take an illuminated shot during the night featuring the city of lights as your backdrop.

Fun fact: This sign was originally built temporarily in 2014 for the G20 Leaders’ Summit. Given its popularity among locals and tourists, it was then upgraded to a better version, becoming a permanent tourist attraction in Brisbane.

10. Goodwill Bridge

This is hands down the most instagrammable place in Brisbane for me. I am quite biased as I hold lots of personal memories of this bridge.

Goodwill Bridge is a pedestrian and cyclist bridge that connects the Queensland Maritime Museum at South Bank with the city’s QUT Gardens Point campus. It is less than 500 meters long that offers viewing decks and benches along the way too.

The best time to walk along this bridge would be at sunset and nighttime. The bright sun during day time can be quite glaring. The colors during sunset vary daily depending on the weather but the views of the river are truly calming and healing.

If you like exploring places by your own pace, you can try this mobile scavenger hunt: Discover Brisbane – South Bank.

12. Kurilpa Bridge

Kurilpa Bridge is the world’s first tensegrity cable stay bridge. This means that each pillar is supported by the cables (in tension) between pillars. Interestingly, the pillars do not even touch each other to keep the bridge stable and steady, that makes it one of the most instagrammable places in Brisbane

This pedestrian and cyclist footbridge connects South Brisbane to the Brisbane Central Business District. There are two viewing and relaxation platforms, two rest areas, and an all-weather canopy available at this instagrammable place in Brisbane.

If you are want a different experience, you can check out this Brisbane Mini Segway Tour that provides you a fun ride to glide along Kurilpa Bridge.

20. The University Of Queensland, St Lucia

The University Of Queensland (UQ) at St Lucia has a beautiful campus that makes it one of the most instagrammable places in Brisbane.

This main campus of UQ covers 114 hectares of Brisbane River-bound land. The stunning sandstone buildings situated along lush greenery and still lakes make it so picturesque and breathtaking.

Jacaranda Lane on the UQ campus is spectacularly striking during October, which also happens to be the exam season.

When I was a university student in Brisbane, I hear a myth that claims: “If a jacaranda flower falls on your head, you will fail your exam. That made me extra careful whenever I’m walking past a jacaranda tree, haha!

And some said the opposite: “If you hit it, you will ace your exam.”

No matter the negative or positive one, I am grateful for stories like these that attach meaning to a tree, which also made my exam weeks more lively with conversations.

I personally enjoy walking along the Lovers’ Walk all the way up to the pier. If you are lucky, it is sometimes possible to sight small bay dolphins from the end of the pier!
