1. Astronomical Clock

The Astronomical Clock is the best preserved medieval mechanical clock in the world and something you can’t miss on your trip to Prague!

Located on the south face of Old Town City Hall, this masterpiece was built in the 15th century and is commonly known as ’The Orloj’.

It shows the relative positions of the Sun, Moon, Earth, and Zodiac constellations so for all of my astronomy lovers you need to get some shots of the astronomical clock! It also tells the time, and the date, and gives a show for all of its viewers every hour.

Note: While your fellow tourists are admiring and taking pictures, don’t forget to watch out for pickpocketing. One of the best ways to keep your belongings safe is by securing them under your clothes with a money belt.

2. Municipal Library Of Prague

The Municipal Library is where you will find the insta-famous tunnel of books. This visual illusion makes for the perfect reel or picture on Instagram!

Another cool thing about this spot is that you can also find an art gallery on the second floor and a movie theater downstairs. Of course, there is also a library, but most of the books are in Czech. It’s still worth checking out though!

Note: If you’ve always wanted to see a puppet show, then you should check out the National Marionette Theater. It’s right next to the Municipal Library and you can catch a show before or after your trip to the library!

If you feel more comfortable among the hustle and bustle of a picturesque city then you need to visit Old Town Square.

A few of the most iconic buildings in Old Town Square are The Astronomical Clock, Stone Bell House, and The Gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn. And one of the best restaurants to go to is the Pizzeria Pulcinella.

Note: Old Town Hall and Old Town Square are not the same thing. Old Town Hall is in Old Town Square and requires a ticket to enter. Old Town Square is free to visit.

And if you visit Prague between December 1st to January 6th, then you will definitely want to visit Old Town Square because this is when their Christmas Market is held each year!

Taking a stroll through Charles Bridge is a staple in every Prague trip and for a very good reason.

This enchanting stone arch bridge is something straight out of a fairytale, and if you go early in the morning, you will have the best experience as the morning mist settles, no one is in your way or your pictures, and you can watch the sunrise on the bridge.

If you do choose to go during the day or afternoon, be aware that there will be a lot of people trying to soak up the ambiance and buy souvenirs.

If you’re not one for crowds, your best bet is to go at dawn or dusk because you will probably be shouldering through a large group of people at any other time of the day.

5. Old Town Bridge Tower

An impressive gothic gateway that makes this list is the Old Town Bridge Tower.

This is one of the best spots to get an iconic photo of the Charles Bridge, especially at night! It’s also a great opportunity to learn about the history of the bridge towers throughout the exhibits inside.

Old Town Bridge Tower is one of two towers that sit on Charles Bridge. Both towers give you amazing views of Prague, and you can’t go wrong with either.

Note: Old Town Bridge Tower gives you a birds-eye view of Charles Bridge, the Vltava River, and Prague Castle. The Lesser Town Bridge Tower gives you amazing views of the Vltava River and the center of Prague.

In both of the towers, you have to climb about 138 steps and it can get pretty crowded, especially during sunset.

6. Vltava River (Swan Spot Prague)

The Vltava River is the longest river within Czechia and just so happens to be one of the best places to get pictures of swans!

Located right under The Charles Bridge, the Vltava River flows through Prague and offers beautiful scenery of swans, and other birds, floating around and searching for food.

You may find some birds swooping down to catch fish amongst the chatter of people eating at one of the riverside restaurants. If that’s not Instagram-worthy, I don’t know what is!

Note: For the best pictures, book a sightseeing tour where you will be able to see all of the highlights of Prague and panoramic views of the city. And for a romantic date, I suggest opting for an evening tour where you can see the city at night!

7. Most Instagrammable Places Prague – Vysehrad

Located on the East side of the Vltava River, Vysehrad is the perfect place to get the best pictures for Instagram!

This historical fortress sits on top of a hill and holds deep cultural ties to many parts of Prague’s history. Because it’s situated on top of a hill, Vysehrad offers incredible views of Prague, and that’s not even the best part.

This park also holds hidden architectural treasures such as the neo-gothic church of Saints Peter and Paul and underground casements of some of the original statues from the Charles Bridge.

As you can see there are plenty of notable places to see in Vysehrad; however one of the most notable places is the Vysehrad Cemetery. This is the burial place of many famous Czech nationals such as Josef Zitek, Milada Horakova, and Jan Neruda.

Fortunately, most of these places are free to visit! The only time you will need to buy a ticket is if you want to see Basilica St. Peter and Paul and the Gorlice Casemates, which I highly recommend.

8. The Narrow Street

One of the best photo spots in Prague is the Narrow Street of Prague.

This street is so narrow it has a stoplight for pedestrians on both ends of it! It was never actually intended to be a street, more so a fire escape or passageway.

Because it’s so narrow, and only one person can walk through this street at one time, you may have to wait for the pedestrian traffic lights to give you the go-ahead due to others waiting on the opposite end.

The John Lennon Wall is one of the most iconic photo spots in the city as it is big enough to accommodate a lot of people at any given time! I mean, who doesn’t want to add some amazing street art to their feed?

As you might have guessed from the name, the Lennon Wall preserves the memory of the late Beatles musician John Lennon.

However, the original painting of John Lennon has since been covered up underneath layers of messages and graffiti initially used to demand freedom in a silent protest against the communist government.

Today the messages focus on peace and love and the graffiti wall serves as an open-air art gallery that preserves modern history and the legacy of a legend.

10. The Head Of Franz Kafka

The Head of Franz Kafka is the most unique moving work of art in Prague. That’s right, it rotates and changes!

This 42-layer steel statue is in honor of the famous writer Franz Kafka, one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. Some of his novels include The Castle and The Trial.

This modern piece of art stops twice an hour for 15 minutes before it starts rotating again for another 15 minutes, so you will have ample opportunity to snap pictures of it. The best way to get a video is by doing a time-lapse.

The Head of Franz Kafka was designed like this to portray Kafka’s complex mind and personal struggles.

While there are several interpretations, and myths, floating around about Kafka, one thing that remains consistent is that Kafka suffered from self-doubt and didn’t feel like he belonged in a world full of negativity.

If you’re looking to get some cool pictures of special architecture, then make sure you visit The Dancing House, also known as Fred and Ginger.

It can’t be missed as it stands out from the rest of the buildings and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Prague. This iconic attraction has a hotel and a rooftop restaurant so the gorgeous views don’t have to stop on the curb.

Note: One of the best ways to snap pictures of The Dancing House is by doing a long exposure and capturing movement from the traffic.

Also, as you make your way around the city you may notice that Prague’s weather can be quite unpredictable, so I would pack a windproof umbrella to make sure you keep you and your belongings dry throughout the day.

12. St. Cyril And St. Methodius Cathedral

St. Cyril and St. Methodius Cathedral is one of the most serene places that make this list.

This Cathedral once provided shelter for a small group of Czechia soldiers who fought against Nazi soldiers after they assassinated Reinhard Heydrich in 1942.

The church itself still serves as an active church. However, the crypt below the church, where this heroic story took place, is now a museum to honor the brave story of the paratroopers.

The museum is where you can read their heroic stories and walk through the exhibitions. Don’t forget to capture all of the baroque church’s beauty on the outside as well!

13. Klementinum Library

One of the most surreal and iconic landmarks in Prague is the Klementinum Library.

This majestic masterpiece features gorgeous fresco paintings and holds over 20,000 books! It’s one of those places where you feel like you’ve jumped into a Harry Potter book.

The Klementinum Library is one of the largest European libraries and a popular attraction in Prague, rightfully so!

Note: To experience this masterpiece you have to book a guided tour, unless you’re a Czech scholar. The tour covers both the Klementinum Library and the Astronomical Tower!

If you’re into cold beer and beautiful views then Letna Park is ideal for you.

Taking a stroll through Letna Park may be one of the most peaceful parts of your trip as you can get away from the crowds and enjoy their main attractions that overlook the Vltava River.

Letna Park has plenty of amazing photo spots in Prague with it being the home to the Prague Metronome, beautiful landscape, and panoramic views of the city.

One of the best photo spots in Prague is Prague Castle, but not only for obvious reasons.

Prague Castle is actually a castle complex that occupies 5 churches: St. Vitus Cathedral, All Saints Church, the Holy Cross Chapel, St. George’s Basilica, and St. George’s Convent.

It is considered to be the world’s largest ancient castle, according to The Guinness Book of World Records, and one of the most instagrammable spots in Prague.

There is a lot to see and opportunities to capture pictures at Prague Castle so if you want to explore in detail then expect it to take over 3 hours. You can also get some amazing pictures of the city just outside of Prague Castle, particularly at night!

Note: If you want to save a little extra time on your trip and avoid standing in a long line, book a skip-the-line ticket before you go. If you want to avoid sore feet from walking on cobblestone all day, then make sure you pack cute and comfortable sightseeing shoes.

16. St. Vitus Cathedral

St. Vitus Cathedral is one of the most instagrammed places in Prague and one of the five churches in Prague Castle.

The stained glass windows, incredible artwork, and gothic aesthetic make for beautiful Instagram reels and photos! The best time to take pictures is 1-2 hours before sunset so you can capture the sun shining through the stained glass windows creating a rainbow!

Make sure you visit the cathedral 1 hour before closing time or you won’t be let in. You can visit the inside for free or with a ticket.

Note: To avoid heavy crowds of people and crazy long lines, don’t visit the cathedral immediately after the change of the Prague Castle Guards at 12:00 PM.

17. Golden Lane

One of the best Prague Instagram spots is Golden Lane!

The cobblestone street and tiny colorful homes make for amazing pictures and a medieval fairytale. Although most of these mystical houses are souvenir shops today, they used to be occupied by servants of goldsmiths and guards of the castle.

To avoid people getting in your shot, the best time to go is early in the morning.

Golden Lane is also a part of Prague Castle, so when you book your skip-the-line ticket, you will also have access to Golden Lane.

Fun fact: Franz Kafka lived in house #22 at some point in his life!

18. Most Instagrammable Places Prague – Petrin Tower

The Petrin Tower is a steel observation tower located on top of Petrin Hill that provides amazing views of the entire city. If you fancy a good hike and good views then you must visit Petrin Tower, also known as the Eiffel Tower lookalike.

During your trip up the tower, you will find plenty of places to stop and take pictures of one of the largest green spaces in Prague.

Once you’ve reached the top of Petrin Hill you will have some of the best views the city has to offer, and if you’re up for it, you can climb Petrin Tower. Although, it is a bit of a challenge as it can be vertigo-inducing.

Note: If you’re not one for hiking, they also give you the option to ride a small funicular (a railway system) to the top.

And the good news about taking the funicular is because it’s part of the Prague public transportation system, you can use the same tickets that you use for the trams and metro!

19. Jerusalem Synagogue (Jubilee Synagogue)

This wonderful work of art is a must-see on this list!

Located near the Central Train Station, The Jerusalem Synagogue is the largest and newest synagogue of the Jewish Community in Prague, and it also just so happens to be the only active synagogue in the city.

It’s not a part of the Jewish Museum; however, it is open to the public. I highly recommend booking a tour ahead of time so you can enjoy all this synagogue has to offer.

If you’re looking to add a gothic aesthetic to your feed then you must visit Powder Tower.

Located in the Old Town of Prague, the Powder Tower has some of the best Instagram spots in Prague since you can capture photos of the gothic ambiance on the outside and the stunning views on top of the building.

The building is actually a gate that separates Prague’s New Town from the Old Town and was originally called the “New Tower”.

Note: There are about 186 steps to get to the top so if you’re not one for taking the stairs, you might want to mentally prepare yourself for the challenge or sit this one out.

21. The Man Hanging Out

The most easily missed and terrifying sculpture can be found in Prague’s Old Town and is also known as The Man Hanging Out.

This statue depicts Sigmund Freud, a famous contributor to the field of psychology, hanging from a building presumably contemplating his life.

What makes this statue so terrifying is that it is surprisingly realistic from a distance, so there have been more than a handful of people to mistake this sculpture for a person who is genuinely in danger.

Other than that, the statue is insanely cool and definitely worth a visit!

22. Wenceslas Square

Wenceslas Square is the main square in Prague and one of the best places to get photos of some instagrammable places in Prague.

The most notable landmarks in this square, which is actually more of a boulevard than a square, are the neo-renaissance building of the National Museum and the statue of Saint Wenceslas.

Wenceslas Square is also the perfect place to go shopping, as the lower part of the square is filled with big fashion stores, bookstores, coffee shops, souvenir shops, and restaurants. Whatever you need, they have it!

At night, the square turns into a nightlife center with plenty of bars and pubs to choose from where you can enjoy yourself responsibly.

23. Most Instagrammable Places Prague – Cubist Lamppost

The world’s only cubist street lamp lies in the quiet corner of Jungmann Square.

Designed by Emil Kralicek in 1913, the striking geometric patterns and the traditional buildings as a backdrop make for the best photo spots in Prague.

It’s also a great opportunity to rest after walking around all day and charging your phone for more pictures with your power bank, a Prague essential!

There are a few cubist buildings around the city, but this is the only cubist lamppost. So make sure you don’t miss this stunning piece of artwork on your trip around Prague.

24. Grand Hotel Europa

One of Prague most instagrammable places is the Grand Hotel Europa. This remarkable yellow building sits on the edge of Wenceslas Square and features an even more extravagant design on the inside than the outside!

In fact, the interior is so exquisite, it has made an appearance in several movies including The Titanic and Mission Impossible.

Although the interior was once open to the public, it is now closed due to renovations. So, for now, you can only get pictures of the outside. However, that may not be the case by the time you go, so I would still check it out.

25. Wallenstein Garden

One of Prague hidden gems is an isolated mythical garden in the center of a Baroque complex.

Wallenstein Garden is the perfect place to get as many pictures as your camera roll will allow and then enjoy your favorite book in the sprawling garden. This is also the best time to enjoy a picnic amid roaming peacocks and koi fish.

There are plenty of other beautiful sights here such as the Wallenstein Riding School where they have ongoing exhibitions and the Wallenstein Palace.

While you may come across other fellow tourists, you can expect fewer crowds than other gorgeous attractions in Prague!

Note: The most convenient way to get there is by the Malostranská metro station. Once you’re in Malostranká metro station, go up all of the escalators and then turn left. As soon as you get outside, turn right. There should be a gate and then a small door to the garden.

The Wallenstein Garden is only open from April 1st to October 31st; however, when it is open, it’s free! I also have to note that you can’t sit or walk on the grass; that is only for the peacocks.

26. Barcode Babies In Kampa Park

Located in Kampa Park, the Barcode Babies are a unique, or creepy depending on your perspective, work of art that was created by a controversial sculptor who goes by David Cerny.

Cerny never actually explained his ideas, so it left a lot of room for guessing with the public.

A common theory is that Cerny was representing the dehumanization of humanity, especially with children. Others think they are meant to represent being a product of the consumer society.

Regardless of the reason for this masterpiece, it’s worth capturing its beauty! Most opt to take a photo on the babies’ backs, which is why their backs have long turned gold.

One of the most instagrammable cafes in Prague and the world is Cafe Louvre.

It sits right on top of Hotel U Prince and also serves as a bar so you can enjoy a nice glass of wine while taking in the views of Prague without anyone getting your way!

Troja Chateau is one of the best places to take pictures in Prague.

The beautiful Baroque building surrounded by a gorgeous French garden and vineyards makes an amazing background. And the impressive frescoes inside give you plenty of opportunities to spice up your thread.

This is also the perfect time to take a break from the crowds and enjoy a quiet walk amongst the garden.

It is a bit far from the heart of Prague so if you don’t have extra time, I wouldn’t suggest going. However, if you do have some spare time on your hands to explore, then it will be well worth your visit.

This museum does an awesome job of portraying Kafka’s work in a modern and organized way. And if you’re not too weirded out by the intriguing statue of men peeing, don’t forget to snap a picture of it since it’s right outside of the museum.

I do have to mention, it may not be very interesting to you if you’re not familiar with his work.
